We are supporting a leading international financial institution in the search for a Vice President, Financial Crime Compliance Advisory to join its Singapore-based team.
This is a senior advisory role supporting business activities across Singapore and the broader Asia-Pacific region, including exposure to markets such as Hong Kong and Australia. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to senior business stakeholders, providing practical, risk-based guidance on financial crime matters while helping the organisation navigate an increasingly complex regulatory environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide Financial Crime Compliance advisory support to front office, product and support functions across the region.
Advise on Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF), sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption, fraud and broader financial crime risks.
Support the review and approval of new products, services, client relationships and strategic initiatives from a financial crime risk perspective.
Partner with business stakeholders to identify, assess and mitigate financial crime risks while enabling commercial objectives.
Interpret and advise on regulatory developments and emerging financial crime risks across Asia-Pacific jurisdictions.
Provide guidance on complex client onboarding, enhanced due diligence and high-risk customer relationships.
Escalate material risks and issues appropriately, providing balanced and commercially practical recommendations.
Work closely with Compliance, Legal, Risk, Operations and business teams to ensure a consistent and effective control framework.
Support regulatory engagements, audits, thematic reviews and internal governance forums as required.
Contribute to the enhancement of policies, procedures, controls and financial crime frameworks across the organisation.
Requirements
Approximately 15 years or more of relevant Financial Crime Compliance experience.
Strong advisory experience gained within international banking or financial services environments.
Deep knowledge of AML, sanctions and broader financial crime regulatory requirements.
Experience advising senior stakeholders and business leaders on complex risk and regulatory matters.
Exposure to multiple Asia-Pacific jurisdictions, with knowledge of Singapore regulations considered essential.
Strong understanding of financial crime risks across corporate, institutional, commercial and/or investment banking activities.
Ability to balance regulatory expectations with commercial realities and provide pragmatic, risk-based advice.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Strong judgement, credibility and the confidence to challenge where necessary.
Preferred Background
Experience gained within global or regional banking institutions.
Exposure to Hong Kong, Australia and wider Asia-Pacific regulatory environments.
Demonstrated success operating within complex, matrixed and international organisations.
Experience managing regulatory change, business growth initiatives and cross-border financial crime matters.
