Geopolitical and Economic Analyst, Asia

Our client is a geopolitical and economic advisory firm seeking a high-calibre Research Analyst to join its team in India.

This is a broad, externally facing role supporting analysis across macroeconomic, geopolitical, and policy developments. The exact focus will be shaped around the successful candidate’s experience and may include China, wider Asia (including India–China dynamics), or thematic areas such as energy markets, sustainability, and the climate transition.

You will contribute to work that helps public and private sector clients interpret complex developments and assess their commercial, regulatory, and strategic implications.

Position responsibilities
 
  • Support delivery of client work, including research notes, briefings, and time-sensitive updates
  • Contribute to longer-form research projects and bespoke advisory engagements
  • Track and analyse macroeconomic, geopolitical, and policy developments across relevant markets and sectors
  • Translate complex information into clear, structured, and client-ready outputs
  • Contribute to internal knowledge development across priority themes such as trade, investment, industrial policy, and energy transition

Qualifications
 
  • Master’s degree in international economics, international affairs, public policy, political science, law, or a related field; alternatively, a bachelor’s degree with at least two years of relevant experience
  • Strong interest in geopolitical and economic developments, with exposure to at least one of the following: China, Asia, global trade, or energy and climate policy
  • Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesise information into concise, well-structured outputs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing high-quality written work
  • High attention to detail, strong organisational ability, and capacity to manage multiple concurrent priorities
  • Near-native English writing and communication skills
  • Additional language capability (e.g. Chinese) is advantageous but not essential
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with economic or commercial databases is beneficial
  • Ability to be based in India with full work authorisation

Additional desirable experience
 
  • Experience supporting decision-makers in consulting, government, research, or advisory environments
  • Exposure to sector-level analysis (e.g. energy, industrials, technology, or supply chains)
  • Familiarity with policy, regulatory, or geopolitical risk analysis
