Director - Intelligence & Strategic Advisory, Indo-Pacific

Singapore, SG · ~$180,000
Director - Intelligence & Strategic Advisory, Indo-Pacific
Location: Singapore

We are supporting a specialist advisory firm providing strategic counsel to governments, corporates, and investors. The firm combines forward-looking geopolitical intelligence, discreet investigations, and narrative analysis to help clients anticipate and manage political, regulatory, security, and reputational risk across the Indo-Pacific region.

This role sits at the intersection of three capabilities:

  • Strategic and geopolitical intelligence
  • Investigations and ground-level fact-finding
  • Narrative and reputational risk analysis (AI-enabled, human-led)

The Asia Director will lead high-impact engagements, develop regional networks, and contribute to the firm’s commercial growth.

Role Mandate

The successful candidate will:

Lead intelligence-led advisory engagements

  • Deliver forward-looking analysis on geopolitical dynamics, state behaviour, and regulatory trajectories
  • Advise clients on political risk, market entry, partner risk, and strategic exposure
  • Produce decision-ready briefings for senior stakeholders (C-suite, boards, investors)

Execute and oversee complex investigations

  • Lead discreet, ground-level enquiries in opaque or high-risk environments
  • Direct the use of human sources alongside OSINT and data-led methodologies
  • Support disputes, asset tracing, and sensitive situational assessments

Build and leverage regional networks

  • Develop and maintain trusted source networks across Southeast Asia, South Asia, and wider Indo-Pacific markets
  • Engage sources to generate proprietary insights unavailable through open channels
  • Operate with discretion in politically sensitive jurisdictions

Integrate narrative and reputational risk analysis

  • Assess how media, policy, and stakeholder narratives shape commercial and political outcomes
  • Combine AI-enabled media mapping with human analytical judgement
  • Advise on narrative positioning, reputational exposure, and influence strategies

Drive business development

  • Originate and convert opportunities with corporates, investors, and professional services clients
  • Build long-term client relationships across the region
  • Contribute to proposals, pitches, and market positioning

Candidate Profile

Experience

  • 12–18+ years in strategic advisory, corporate intelligence, investigations, geopolitical risk, or relevant experience from government, intelligence services, diplomacy, or strategy consulting

Core capabilities

  • Strong grounding in geopolitical and regulatory risk analysis
  • Experience running complex, cross-border investigations
  • Ability to operate both strategically (advisory) and tactically (execution)
  • Established network of regional sources and contacts

Commercial profile

  • Demonstrated ability or clear potential to contribute to revenue generation
  • Comfortable engaging senior stakeholders and originating work

Analytical and communication skills

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication
  • Ability to translate complex intelligence into clear, actionable advice
  • Strong judgement in ambiguous and sensitive situations

Differentiation of the Role

This position offers exposure to an integrated model not typically found in traditional firms:

  • Combines intelligence, investigations, and advisory in a single platform
  • Embeds narrative and perception analysis alongside traditional risk assessment
  • Uses AI tools to scale media and stakeholder analysis, enhanced by human expertise
  • Focuses on proprietary insight generation through human networks, not just desk-based research

Key Outcomes

  • Deliver high-quality, decision-ready intelligence to clients operating in complex markets
  • Build and deepen a proprietary network across the Indo-Pacific
  • Establish trusted advisor relationships with senior client stakeholders
  • Contribute to the growth of the Asia practice through both delivery and origination
