Associate Director, Strategic Advisory

We are seeking an Associate Director with at least six years of experience in a consulting or advisory environment to lead complex, cross-border assignments and deliver clear, actionable insights that inform business strategy and investment decisions.

The role combines an investigative mindset with regional expertise and commercial awareness, enabling clients to navigate opaque markets, assess counterparties, and anticipate political, regulatory, and reputational risks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team delivering due diligence and company analysis across Asia, assessing commercial, regulatory, and political risks affecting businesses and investments.
  • Define investigative and analytical strategies for projects, structuring research programmes to identify operational, commercial, and reputational exposure.
  • Review and validate research outputs and investigative findings to ensure accuracy, clarity, and analytical rigour.
  • Produce high-quality written reports and deliver briefings to senior leadership, legal teams, and investment professionals at multinational corporations and financial institutions.
  • Build and cultivate a trusted professional network across industries in Asia to support current and future assignments.
  • Contribute to client relationship management, proposal development, and broader business development initiatives.

Candidate Profile
 
  • 6–10 years of relevant experience, including at least two years managing analysts or project teams.
  • Background in management consulting, political risk advisory, cross-border transactions (M&A), government or trade representation, legal practice, think tanks, or policy institutions.
  • Strong understanding of commercial, regulatory, and political risk across Asian markets.
  • Demonstrated experience producing complex written analysis used by senior decision-makers.
  • Ability to assess commercial drivers and regulatory exposure across sectors, particularly where companies interact with government authorities and regulators.
  • Strong investigative and research capabilities, including the ability to synthesise diverse sources into clear analysis.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable operating in complex, ambiguous, and sensitive environments.
  • Able to work independently while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Fluency in at least one Asian language is required.
