Asset Tracer (In-House)

London, London · £50,000-£90,000
Asset Tracer (In-House)
London | ~5–6 years’ experience (±)

Discreet, investigative, outcomes-driven

The Opportunity

We are hiring an Asset Tracer to join a lean, high-performance team operating in a principal-side environment. This is not a traditional corporate role, and not a classic “advisory / client delivery” position.

Instead, this is an opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys the craft of asset tracing and investigative research — but who wants real ownership of outcomes, working directly towards recoveries, enforcement strategy, and actionable intelligence.

The culture is less corporate, more hedge fund: direct, fast-moving, intellectually demanding, and focused on results.

Key Responsibilities

Asset Tracing & Investigative Intelligence

  • Conduct end-to-end asset tracing across individuals and corporates, including complex cross-border structures.
  • Map beneficial ownership and control through layered entities, nominees, trusts, proxies, and intermediaries.
  • Build evidence-led profiles of asset location, asset movement, and concealment methods.
  • Generate traceable outputs suitable for enforcement-led strategies (clear, structured, defensible).

Forensic / “Detective Work” (Adjacent Investigations)

  • Support broader investigative work requiring forensic logic, persistence and pattern-recognition.
  • Identify inconsistencies, hidden links, networks, and unexplained financial or ownership behaviour.
  • Combine open-source, proprietary databases, and human-led enquiry to uncover facts others miss.

Case Ownership & Internal Partnership

  • Take ownership of workstreams and deliver intelligence directly into decision-making.
  • Work closely with legal, enforcement, disputes, risk, and strategy stakeholders.
  • Contribute to building internal standards, methods, templates, and repeatable playbooks.

Candidate Profile (What “Good” Looks Like)
Experience

  • 5–6 years’ experience in asset tracing / investigations / intelligence / disputes support.
  • Background may include:
  • Specialist asset tracing / investigations firms
  • Corporate intelligence
  • Forensic / disputes advisory
  • Enforcement support
  • Complex due diligence with a heavy tracing component

Mindset & Personality

  • Naturally tenacious, persistent, and hard to discourage.
  • Enjoys the process: digging, hypothesis-testing, connecting fragments, pulling threads.
  • Thrives on ambiguity and complexity; gets satisfaction from uncovering hidden truths.
  • Strong sense of ownership — wants their work to directly drive outcomes, not just deliverables.

Skills

  • Strong investigative research capability using OSINT + databases (and knowing how to validate).
  • Comfortable working independently; excellent judgement and discretion.
  • Clear written outputs: concise, defensible, and decision-useful.

Environment & Culture Fit

  • Lean, direct, high trust.
  • Less process, more outcomes.
  • Strong alignment to those who prefer special situations / hedge fund energy over large-firm formality.
  • A role for someone who wants to be closer to the action, with real accountability.

Why This Role

  • Work with real ownership and accountability.
  • High autonomy and responsibility.
  • Exposure to complex, high-stakes matters (often cross-border).
  • A platform for someone who wants to be known internally as the person who “finds what others can’t.”

Salary:

  • £50,000- £90,000 (depending on experience)
