Director – Regulatory Risk
(Singapore/Kuala Lumpur)

This role involves consulting to banks and financial institutions across Southeast Asia, advising on risk, regulatory, and compliance matters. You will work closely with senior stakeholders to deliver strategic insights, support regulatory transformation, and strengthen enterprise risk frameworks in complex, fast-evolving markets.

Duties:

Client Engagement & Development
  • Build strong relationships with clients, understanding their regulatory obligations and enterprise risk exposure.
  • Advise on the design and implementation of effective compliance frameworks, governance models, and regulatory risk controls.
  • Identify opportunities to support clients in navigating complex regulatory environments across banking, insurance, and capital markets.
  • Lead proposal development and support go-to-market initiatives for regulatory advisory services.

Regulatory Advisory
  • Interpret and apply evolving regulatory requirements (e.g. MAS, HKMA, SAMA, EBA, Basel, IFR/IFD).
  • Help clients assess regulatory impact, remediate findings, and implement risk-based compliance programmes.

Governance & Controls
  • Design risk governance structures, compliance testing frameworks, and conduct risk models.
  • Advise boards and senior management on regulatory risk exposures and supervisory expectations.

Team Leadership
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams delivering regulatory risk mandates.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to capability development across the practice.

Thought Leadership
  • Monitor global regulatory trends and share insights with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Represent the firm in industry forums, roundtables, or training sessions.


Candidate Profile
 
  • 12+ years’ experience in regulatory risk, compliance, or policy advisory roles.
  • Deep understanding of local and international regulations across banking and insurance sectors.
  • Track record in designing and implementing regulatory change or remediation programmes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Consulting, regulator, or industry background.
  • Qualifications such as FRM, CAMS, or legal training advantageous.
